Day 4 Arrival Back in Quito with an Overnight Stay Day 4 and Day 5 in the Capital City
Departing Quito Again on Day 6 to Head to the Galapagos Islands
Day 4 our group loads up on the bus and we make our way back to the Hotel Mercure in Quito, the same hotel we stayed in at the start of the tour. Along the way, we enjoy some freshly grilled bugs for snacks, visit the "Center of the World" (Cuidad Mitad del Mundo). We arrive back in Quito in the evening for dinner on your own. Day 5 is a complete day of rest if you so choose, or a day to do whatever you would like in Ecuador. With a full day and a blank slate, it is off to Colombia to visit Ipiales, experience the border crossing, and see the amazing works of art in the cemetery in Tulcan, Ecuador. After a very long day traveling across northern Ecudor and southern Colombia, it is time to rest up and get ready for Day 6, where the group boards a plane and flies to the Galapagos Islands.
Below: A stop off in Archidona to enjoy some bugs - a great snack! A monument at the Center of the World. This time, the Hotel Mercure assigned a nice big room with sofa, chairs, table, and a separate bedroom.
We make our way back to Quito for a couple of days. This was a chance to rest and relax OR head to Colombia for some more sightseeing!

Inside the monument at the equator, there are great exhibits providing insight on the many different cultures found in Ecuador. To see all of the exhibits, be sure to take the stairs, or stop on every floor when riding the elevator.
